The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a storm warning for seven states: Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. The alert has a severity level classified as danger and remains in effect until 10 am this Wednesday (4).
The forecast is for rain between 30 millimeters and 60 millimeters per hour (mm/h) or between 50 millimeters and 100 millimeters per day (mm/day), in addition to intense winds that can vary from 60 kilometers to 100 kilometers per hour (km /h) and hail. There is also a risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops, falling trees and flooding.
The affected areas include: Center Goiano, Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, Central Mineira, Norte Pioneiro Paranaense, Zona da Mata, Center-South Mato Grosso, South Goiano, Presidente Prudente, São José do Rio Preto, Metropolitana de Curitiba, East of Mato Grosso do Sul, Campinas, West of Minas, Bauru, Piracicaba, South/Southwest of Minas, Itapetininga, North Center of Mato Grosso do Sul, Campo das Vertentes, Ribeirão Preto, Araçatuba, Southeast Mato Grosso, Northwest Paraná, Macro Metropolitana Paulista and Marília.
Other affected regions are: Metropolitan Belo Horizonte, North Central Paraná, Southwest Mato Grosso do Sul, Araraquara, Pantanais Sul Mato Grosso, Sul Fluminense, Vale do Paraíba Paulista, Northwest Fluminense, Northwest Goiano, Northeast Mato Grosso, Central East Paraná, Southwest Mato Grosso, Baixadas, Centro Oeste Paraná, Centro Fluminense, Metropolitana de São Paulo, Assis, West Paraná, South Coast of São Paulo, Metropolitan of Rio de Janeiro, Central-South Paraná, North Fluminense, North Mato Grosso, Northwest of Minas and Southeast Paraná.
In case of gusts of wind, Inmet advises that the population does not take shelter under trees, due to the risk of falling and electrical discharges, and does not park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs.
“If possible, turn off electrical appliances and the general power supply. Get more information from the Civil Defense (phone 199) and the Fire Department (phone 193)”, recommends Inmet.
Intense rains
Another alert published by the institute is of intense rain, valid for part of the country until 10 am this Wednesday. The alert has a severity level classified as potential danger. The forecast is for rain between 20 mm/h and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, in addition to intense winds varying between 40 km/h and 60 km/h. According to the warning, there is a low risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.
For this second alert, the affected areas include: Center Goiano, Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, East Goiano, Central Mineira, South Cearense, North Pioneiro Paranaense, Zona da Mata, Western Tocantins, Southeast Piauiense, Sertões Cearenses, Center-South Mato -grossense, Vale do Acre, Sul Goiano, Vale do Rio Doce, Presidente Prudente, São José do Rio Preto, Metropolitana Curitiba, Sertão Pernambucano, Central Espírito Santo, Central-North Piauí, Southeast Pará, Northeast Mato Grosso, Sertão Paraibano, East of Mato Grosso do Sul, Northwest Espírito Santo, Campinas, West of Minas, West Potiguar, Bauru, Piracicaba , Vale do Mucuri, North of Minas, South/Southwest of Minas, Itapetininga, North Center of Mato Grosso of the South, South of Espírito Santo, Campo das Vertentes, East of Tocantins, Jequitinhonha, North of Mato Grosso, East of Rondoniense and Southwest of Pará.
