Student run over in front of the University of Matanzas: They denounce the context of insecurity

SLP, Mexico.- The young student Daylín Sánchez died last Saturday in the city of Matanzas, after being run over by a driver who fled, as confirmed by the Observatory of Academic Freedom (OLA) of Cuba.

According to the notewhich had previously been published on several Facebook profiles, the victim was studying Law at the University of Matanzas, an institution where she was on a scholarship.

The almost 20-year-old girl, who lives in Jagüey Grande, left the campus with the intention of waiting for public transportation outside the campus but was hit by a car.

His body was found lifeless and with obvious signs of being hit by a vehicle on a surrounding road that remains dark due to the energy crisis, as confirmed by passersby to OLA.

The young woman’s body was identified by teachers and relatives this Sunday afternoon.

Although the perpetrator of the accident fled the scene, several social media profiles have confirmed that he has already been arrested by the police. police.

This type of event, as OLA explained, shows the context of insecurity in which young people in Cuba operate.

“The attack that cost the life of the university student, and whose perpetrator is still unknown, adds to the chain of violent incidents that expose the lives of young Cubans,” the observatory denounced.

Also this month and after four days of searching, the body of Jesus David Corcho Perezwho had been reported missing, was found dead and with signs of violence.

A cousin of the young man communicated the tragic news through Facebookensuring that the young man was murdered, without other details about the circumstances of the crime.

The 22-year-old had last been seen a few days earlier when he left on his motorcycle.

According to people close to the victim, Corcho was a very beloved young man in the community. Alicia María López Hernández, one of his teachers, described him as “an exceptional human being,” an “animal lover,” and with a big heart.
