Pix breaks record and approaches 240 million transactions in one day

Central Bank reports data leak of 8,000 BTG PIX keys

The Central Bank’s (BC) instant transfer system, Pix broke a new record last Friday (29), benefiting from the receipt of the first installment of the thirteenth. For the first time, the modality approached the mark of 240 million transactions in 24 hours.Pix breaks record and approaches 240 million transactions in one day

On the 29th alone, 239.9 million transfers were made via Pix to end users. The previous daily record was recorded on September 6, with 227.4 million movements.

“The numbers are yet another demonstration of the importance of Pix as a public digital infrastructure, for promoting financial inclusion, innovation and competition in the provision of payment services in Brazil,” the BC said in a statement.

In terms of values, R$130 billion were moved last Friday. The amount is the second largest in history for one day, second only to the R$ 119.429 billion transferred on July 5th of this year.

Created in November 2020, Pix accumulated 170.76 million users at the end of November, according to the most recent monthly statistics. Of this total, 155.49 million were individuals; and 15.27 million, legal entities. In October, according to the most recent consolidated data, the system surpassed the mark of R$2.656 trillion handled.
