President-elect Yamandú Orsi will announce this Monday afternoon Jorge Díaz as pro-secretary of the Presidency.
This morning, Díaz participates in a meeting in the Executive Tower with Alejandro Sánchez, future Secretary of the Presidency, and the outgoing leaders Rodrigo Ferrés and Mariana Cabrera.
This meeting marks the formal beginning of the transition in the Presidency, after the first approach last week between President Luis Lacalle Pou and Orsi.
Díaz’s career includes his recent role as lead lawyer in Orsi’s defense against the unfounded accusations of Paula Díaz and Romina Celeste, which consolidated his closeness to the president-elect. His name had also been mentioned as a possible head of the not yet created Ministry of Justice.
In the afternoon, Sánchez plans to meet with Orsi at the Hampton by Hilton Montevideo Carrasco hotel, where the planning of the new Frente-Amplista government will continue.
