The corruption scandal involving Frigoinca, the Don Simón preserve manufacturing company, has reached the spheres of the government, including a close collaborator of the president. Dina Boluarte.
According to a report by End Point, Fredy Hinojosa Angulopresidential spokesperson and former executive director of Qali Warma, was notified by the Public Ministry as being investigated for alleged acts of corruption during his management in the social program.
During the period in which Dina Boluarte was Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Frigoinca experienced notable growth as a supplier to Qali Warma.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, this would have been achieved through paying bribes to key officials to ensure distribution of their flagship productDon Simon. WhatsApp conversations obtained by the Prosecutor’s Office, and published by the Latina newspaper, show the bribery mechanism.
In one of the chats, Noemí Alvarado Llanosdesignated as an intermediary, requests bank transfers from Nilo Burga. He, in turn, responds: “Coordinate with Delia”, in reference to Delia Zavaleta Garaygeneral manager of Frigoinca.
According to the investigations, Zavaleta would have authorized payments to officials, including transfers to the official Ronald Loza Machicaowho would have altered canned samples in Puno after allegedly receiving a bribe.
Hinojosa, who held the position of executive director of Qali Warma, is listed as a co-investigator along with Nilo Burga. However, Hinojosa has denied any relationship.
“I do not have, I have not had nor will I have any type of friendly, commercial or any other relationship with the aforementioned person, nor with his company Frigoinca,” he declared to Punto Final.
However, according to the investigation, the The Prosecutor’s Office has “other elements of conviction” that link it to the factsso his testimony will be required in the coming days, while his legal defense is defined.
