“With this National Action Plan, as a government and as a State, what we do is focus our actions in favor of women who were widowed, those who were orphaned, those who were victims of sexual crimes, those who were kidnapped, those who fled. seeking refuge, those who were left in charge of their children and the daughters and sons of others,” announced the vice president and Minister of Equality, Francia Márquez.

This plan seeks to implement Resolution 1325 that the UN signed in 2000, which calls for increasing the participation of women in the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts. Of the almost 10 million victims of Colombia’s armed conflict, 50.2% are women, and the plan seeks to implement concrete actions to guarantee their rights and strengthen their role as peacebuilders.
“For women in Colombia, who are the main victims of the armed conflict, this act is very exciting because it signifies the cultural, ethnic, and sexual diversity of Colombian women and the need that women have for the State to increasingly take care of of their protection, of the protection of their rights, that more be done in the fight against sexual violence, against domestic violence, against abuse against women,” said the Minister of the Interior, Juan Fernando Cristo, during the launch event. .

The ministry intends to coordinate actions with 33 State entities in favor of women. For example, this week a special program was signed with the Minister of Agriculture, Martha Carvajalino, to allocate land to rural women in all their diversities. In addition, the National Plan includes proposals made by more than 1,500 women from all over the country.
