PepsiCo workers suspended the strike at the Sorocaba unit on Friday night (29), as reported by the category’s union and the company. According to the union, the suspension, decided at a meeting, will be valid until the company presents a new working day proposal next Wednesday (4).
Employees had been on standby since the beginning of the week in protest against the implementation of the 6×1 working day – six days of work for one day off, as well as the 6×2 working day.
At the Itaquera unit, workers continue to strike and the company operates partially.
The decision to strike was motivated, according to the category’s union, by the company’s intransigent stance and refusal to discuss working hours. Next Monday (2), a hearing is scheduled at TRT-2.
“Faced with PepsiCo’s arbitrary attempt to implement the 6×1 and 6×2 working day, we proposed the Spanish working day as an alternative [alternar entre uma semana de 48 horas e uma semana de 40 horas]. However, even with our insistent requests for a constructive dialogue, the company remained inflexible”, announced the Union of Workers in the Dairy and Food Industries of São Paulo and Region (Stilasp).
The topic gained national repercussion in November due to the proposed Amendment to the Federal Constitution (PEC), authored by federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSol-SP), which proposes a working day of a maximum of 36 hours per week and four days of work. work per week in Brazil.
