Former Roma captain Francesco Totti is being investigated for tax fraud for not having declared advertising income for five years, although the case could be closed soon, since he finally paid the debt, the Italian newspaper La Verita reported this Friday.
According to an investigation by the Financial Guard, Totti did not declare part of the income coming mainly from some advertising advertisements in which he had participated after the end of his sports career, the media added.
The debt initially amounted to a few thousand euros, but had increased to 200,000 euros due to interest and penalties.
Although he later paid the amount owed, Totti was summoned by the prosecutor between December 9 and 13 to obtain clarifications and definitively close the case.
In addition, the former player is also being investigated for child abandonment, after being denounced by his ex-wife Ilary Blasi for having left his daughter Isabel alone at home to go out to dinner.
The police have denied this version of events since the minor was reportedly left with a babysitter.
