Relatives of opposition leader Alfredo Díaz reported that vehicles and electronic equipment were seized. They denounced the arbitrary detention of the leader on the morning of Sunday, November 24, in a National Guard command in the state of Portuguesa.
The family residences of Alfredo Diazformer governor of the state of Nueva Esparta arrested a few years ago, were raided by officials of the Bolivarian National Police Corps, and the Criminal Investigations Division in the entity.

The Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, linked the arrest of Alfredo Díaz with alleged destabilizing plans led by María Corina Machado and Iván Simonovis. According to his statements, Díaz was the head of the “comanditos” in Nueva Esparta and had the intention of sabotaging the national government.
