President Luis Abinader was invested this morning as Doctor Honoris Causa by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD)through a resolution of the Minor Senate, which approved granting him the title “Doctor Honoris Causa”, for his contributions to institutionality, transparency, the defense of the State and democratic values.
The recognition was also made for the support to the academy and the development and expansion of public and participatory higher education throughout the national territory.
Last weekend the president also received the Honoris Causa investiture from the ISA University, becoming the only president to receive the distinction twice in less than a week.
The appointment of President Abinader was approved by Resolution No. 2024-293, of October 25 of this year, approved in an assembly with the presence of 264 members of the University Senate, headed by the rector Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo.

The rector of the State University, during the occasion, presented the annual report of the Academy corresponding to the period October 2023-September 2024, in which he summarized the main achievements carried out by his management at the head of the UASD, in the institutional, teaching aspects , administrative and regarding research and extension.
“Today, October 28, 2024, on the 486th anniversary of the Universidad Primada de América, we meet in this emblematic Aula Magna, faithfully complying with Article 38, literal “n”, of our Organic Statute, which establishes that it is It is the rector’s attribution to annually submit a report to the Minor Senate on the work of the University,” the rector indicated.
According to the rector, the UASD “came closer to our people,” exercising its main function of “serving the people for the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.”
He has called this approach the “expansion process,” and it has been possible due to the support provided by President Abinader Corona, “systematic support and receptivity to every request we have made from this Academy.”
He highlighted that with the support of this magnitude that the UASD has received, it was able to go, in just 2 years and 4 months, “from having a presence in 18 localities, to having a presence in the 32 political-administrative divisions and in 7 of our municipalities.” .
