Who was Silvia Pinal?
Silvia Pinal, born on September 12, 1931 in Guaymas, Sonora, was one of the most emblematic figures of Mexican cinema, television and theater. Her career began at age 18 with the films Bamba and Laura’s Sin, quickly establishing herself as one of the most prominent actresses of her generation.
In 1952, he received his first Ariel from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for Best Co-Acting for the film A Corner Near the Sky. Later, he won two other Ariels: in 1957 for Locura pasional and in 1958 for La dulce enemiga.
International consecration with Buñuel
His most famous film, Viridiana (1961), directed by the legendary filmmaker Luis Buñuel and co-produced by her then husband Gustavo Alatriste, it is considered one of the best in Spanish cinema.
