The Bolivian community in the United States celebrates Thanksgiving by uniting family traditions and roots

The Day of Thanksgivingone of the festivities most significant in the United States, It has also become a special date for Bolivians residing in the North American country.

The Beniano photographer Carlos Rodríguezwho has been living in the United States for three years, remembers how at first he was unaware of this celebration. “At first it was just another date, and I spent it alone. But my neighbors invited me to join, and That’s when I understood its meaning. Now, I organize a dinner with my loved ones,” he shares. Carlos highlights the importance of stopping for a moment to be grateful for the good in life, something he now considers a significant tradition.

Patricia Asbún from Santa Cruzmarried to an American, celebrates this day by combining the classic turkey with flavors from her land. “I cook duck with a touch of Santa Cruz so as not to forget our roots. In addition, we thank God at the beginning of dinner, it is a very special family moment,” he mentions.
