The ruler Nicolás Maduro promoted Luis Reyes Reyes to the rank of Brigadier General (G/B), who was part of the coup attempt against Carlos Andrés Pérez in 1992 and former governor of the Lara state
He leader Nicolás Maduro announced this Wednesday, November 27, that his administration will honor the 21 officials who were sanctioned by the United States government.
The announcement was made during the Military Aviation anniversary event, which was held in the state of Aragua. “Today the decadent government of the United States took out what they call sanctions against a group of eminent men in our country (…) to hit the popular, military and police fusion,” said Maduro from the aforementioned entity.
He indicated that the decoration will be named “Victoria de Ayacucho.” At the event, Maduro asked the officials sanctioned by the Biden government to go up to the stage where he gave his speech in celebration of aviation. He pointed out that the US measures show that officials have done the job of defending the independence and sovereignty of Venezuela “well.”
«Do you think exports are going to stop? With this now we are going to produce to export,” he assured, after mentioning that among those sanctioned is Daniela Cabello, president of the Venezuelan Export Promotion Agency and Country Brand.

The president reiterated that “the baton that I carry will never be dragged across the floors.” He affirmed that “it will never” fall into the hands of “a pataruco who sells his country.” He stated that with him in power “Venezuela will continue its path to independence by building its own political, social, economic, cultural and military model.”
From the Libertador Air Base he confirmed the technological “advances” of the aircraft used by aviation. He highlighted that the National Armed Forces (FAN) is a military power “that is projected to grow (…) and that in the different historical moments that are experienced” will continue the path in the consolidation of independence.
In the act, he promoted Luis Reyes Reyes to the rank of Brigadier General (G/B), who was part of the attempted coup against Carlos Andrés Pérez in 1992 and former governor of the state of Lara.
«Comrade Reyes Reyes was right. With the present spirit of Hugo Chávez, I have the absolute happiness of promoting him to the rank of brigadier general of the Bolivarian military aviation, Bolivarian brigadier general and patriot,” he mentioned.
On the other hand, he awarded the Military Aviation Cross in its First Class and the Legion of Aeronautical Merit in its First Class to Brigadier General Carlos Andrés Herrera, director of acquisitions of the AM; Colonel, Carlos José Moreno Viera, commander of the Fighter Air Group 16.
Also decorated were Captain Rafael Maximiliano Zambrano, chief of operations of Squadron 182; second sergeant major, Alexander José Escobar; and the first corporal, Javier Polanco, air police.
