Querétaro will host another ten data centers

Querétaro, Qro. There are between 10 and 12 data center projects that are about to be carried out in the state, said the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.

He said they are 18 data center units already in place installed in Querétaro and which represent an energy load of 200 megawatts.

“There are 18 units in total, from the first ones that were installed. (…) Some that are in the installation process There must be about 10 or 12 more“, he explained.

Faced with the energy needs that this industry requires, he explained that the state government is working to generate facilities so that they have the supply, through efforts.

He explained that it is a collaborative work with the federal bodies responsible for the energy supply, including the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the National Energy Control Center (Cenace) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

“It is a collaborative work between the CFE, the state and the companies themselves, that is, the extraordinary energy needs are satisfied by the companies in collaboration with the CFE, Cenace, with the CRE. (The type of supply) depends on what the authority determines. We make it easier for them to have energy through management,” he said.

Investments in data center projects are moving forward, he said. He also announced that there will soon be announcements related to this sector.

“We are working with all of them. At the beginning of next month we will give good news and at the beginning of the year too,” he said.

To support the demand for profiles in this industry, the state administration and universities outline new programs for the specialization of human capital.

Del Prete Tercero explained that with this objective a new educational offer was developed in the Polytechnic University of Querétaro (UPQ), a data engineering and a technical career in data centers.

In this sense, he recalled that UPQ and Sedesu signed a collaboration agreement with the Mexican Association of Data Centers (Mexcd).

“We are specializing because the state’s industry, the state’s educational system meets the needs that data centers require today, many are already data engineering,” he noted.

Both public and private universities, he said, are committed to developing an educational proposal for the operation of data centers.

According to the Mexcd, the exponential growth that this industry is experiencing in the country, added to the rise of the digital economy and the global movement in businesses that need a digital technological infrastructure, demands professionals prepared and trained in global trends.
