The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, affirmed this Wednesday that fascism is an element used by imperialism to maintain its domination and exploitation over workers.
During his speech at the installation ceremony of the International Antifascist Promoting Committee at the Parque Bolívar Convention Center in La Carlota, Miranda state, the chancellor asserted that the anti-fascist struggle is also anti-capitalist.
“Fascism is nothing more than a derivation, as an element that imperialism uses, capitalism uses, to maintain its domination, its exploitation over workers,” he declared.
Gil added that the construction of socialism is “the only way we know” to definitively extinguish both capitalism and its most violent expressions. Likewise, he commented that humanity currently faces one of the greatest and most dangerous crossroads, “the subsistence of the human species on this planet, in freedom.”
“Fascism has a deeply economic origin of the elites, it is the economic domination that seeks to perpetuate itself, plunder the natural resources of countries, exploit the labor force and render it the greatest benefit for a few, for some elites, which also mix with xenophobia, with racism, with the sense of supremacism. All of this ends up becoming the greatest evil that the working class, the peasants, and social movements are called to confront and definitively defeat,” he said.
The chancellor highlighted that colonialism was practically the cause of all the people’s ills through the imposition of models by the powers, which led to the current state of the creation of the bourgeoisie that “today becomes an oligarchy and wants govern our people.”
“Those who promote fascism today are the same ones who encouraged it 80-85 years ago. That has not changed at all, they are the same bourgeoisies, it is the same economic power, the same industrial-military power that was proudly displayed at that time (…) Fascism when it emerges as a predatory and harassing political current of the workers and the workers, he did it in the 1930s with pride, being a fascist was displayed as a virtue,” he recalled.
Exhibitions of fascism
Gil specified that in Latin America an example of fascism is the case of the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, who “exhibits himself as a fascist, he attributes fascist attitudes to himself in an open way. All validated by a system of media and social networks today.”
“Racism is also exhibited today as a great virtue by these elites who seek to govern the world. From the US and Europe we see how the workers of Africa, Latin America, and Asia are denigrated exclusively due to their race. This is presented as a great achievement and even as an electoral promise in some countries,” he warned.
The chancellor warned that we are facing perhaps the greatest political, moral and ethical degradation since the 1930s. Therefore, he indicated that the aforementioned organization is called to guarantee the mobilization of the working class, the working class, the social movements and peasants of all the world to combat fascism, imperialism, colonialism and capitalism.
Gil added that the reality of fascism can be reflected in multiple world crises, the largest of which is the policy of extermination that Israel applies in Palestine and has been protected by world powers “because the US, the European Union, the G7 are co-responsible.” “Those who try to teach lessons about democracy and human rights are those who support the regime of (Benjamin) Netanyahu, which also tried to invade Lebanon and is being defeated by the people of Lebanon.”
He also spoke about how Western powers protect a regime that evokes Nazism and fascism as a form of government in Ukraine, being capable of persecuting its own nationals in its territory for having a different origin. “Supporting a Nazi regime is a great virtue for Western powers,” he highlighted.
Another case mentioned is the establishment of currents that sow terror and try to impose hatred in Colombia for decades, the uprising of a fascist movement in Ecuador, demanding the release of former vice president Jorge Glas; as well as the presence of allies with North American imperialism that “has developed great military influence, a great capacity to dominate, to bomb, to bring death to different places in the world.”
The minister highlighted that the organized people were the ones who defeated fascism in the past, being supported by “the great socialist power of the time, the Soviet Union.”
Emergence of a new world
The chancellor emphasized the emergence of a new world that is called to confront fascism and that has various organizations to do so.
“We have a new world emerging, that embraces the flags of solidarity, of complementarity, of humanity. That world that we see reflected today in initiatives such as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, in the Brics, in different organizations, is the new world that is being born and that is called to confront fascism, Nazism, imperialism and colonialism,” he said.
Likewise, he affirmed that from the governments of the world there is a route that is true union embracing “anti-fascist, anti-colonial and anti-imperialist values”, together with the organized and mobilized people.
Gil stressed that no imperialism has been able to defeat the people and that they should feel proud in the team promoting the Anti-Fascist International as they are the vanguard, called to point out the path to follow in this fight.
