The residents of the Chala district are in tension and on the verge of convulsion due to the presence of more than six thousand artisanal miners, who have been protesting and blocking the Pan-American South Highway since Tuesday, November 19, in search of the expansion of formalization through the Reinfo.

The social upheaval has generated the increase in the price of essential products and domestic gasas well as the shortage of water for human consumption and public cleaning, which is in critical condition.

The mayor of the Chala district, Agustín Condori Motta, He urged the strikers to free traffic from the same point of the barricades where the blockades begin, in the Titan area of Chala Norte.

More than six thousand miners from Atico, Calpa, Mollehuaca and Chaparra in the province of Caravelí have entered the Chala district. Another gigantic caravan from the southern part of Ayacucho, such as Coracora, Pausa, Relave among others. The strategic blockade point in Chala is in the Colibrí area of Chala Norte.
The municipal authority asks the Government to address the problem with the priority it deserves since the local economy and the tranquility of the inhabitants are affected.

“We understand that this sector has demands that require dialogue and immediate attention from the competent authorities. We request that a space for negotiation and effective solution be promoted that allows social peace to be restored and guarantee sustainable development for our district.”reads the statement issued by the district municipality of Chala.

VIRTUAL CLASSES
Students at the Hortencia Pardo Mancebo Educational Institution and the José Olaya Educational Institution perform virtual classes because there are no guarantees to attend classrooms.
