San Roque inmates radicalize their protest demanding payment of property taxes

The inmates of the San Roque prison radicalized their protest entering a hunger strike this Tuesday to demand that the Government of Chuquisaca comply with the payment of the property owners that have been owed to them since July.

“We are protesting the lack of property payments. It’s been five months with this November, which is already ending, and we don’t see an answer. “It is up to the Government to pay the property”indicated Luis Alberto Vásquez, Population delegate in San Roque.

The more than 1,000 inmates from the Chuquisaqueña prison They ask that the property taxes be canceled to guarantee food and they point out that they are not asking for alms, but rather they demand that their rights be fulfilled.

This Tuesday some inmates from the Population Pavilion decided to enter a hunger strike due to lack of payment of the Government and announced that they will continue to radicalize their measure if they do not have answers.

From the Government of Chuquisaca they reported, through the departmental director of Citizen Security, Henry Miranda, that Bs 300,000 will be disbursed until this Wednesday to be able to pay the property taxes that correspond to the month of July.

Furthermore, Miranda committed to managing the cancellation of another two months next week and it is estimated to be completed in the months of October, November and December in January 2024.
