In Mexico We are going to leave behind the idea that we have cheap labor to move on to quality and well-paid labor
as well as a modern unionism that takes equal care of workers and companies, said Pedro Haces Barba, general secretary of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (Catem).
When protesting the national executive committee of the union, which he will lead for the third term (2024-2030), Haces, also a federal deputy, highlighted that Catem came to change unionism and leave old practices
.
The massive event held at the Metropólitan Theater was attended by federal legislators and the PAN governors of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato and Querétaro, as well as those of Morena in Nayarit and Quintana Roo. Representatives of chambers of commerce and business organizations also attended,
Haces mentioned the progress made in the labor sector during the governments of the Fourth Transformation, such as the increases in the minimum wage, and in the Congress of the Union, the so-called law chairwhich benefits workers who spend several hours on their feet during their work day.
Alfredo Domínguez, director of the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration, was also at that event, representing the Secretary of Labor, Marath Bolaños, before whom the Morenoist deputy affirmed that Congress will continue to promote everything good for workers, with training and certification of trades
.
Francisco Cervantes, president of the Business Coordinating Council, highlighted the joint work carried out with Catem in the next room
for the review of the trade agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).
We are working hand in hand
to show off to trading partners what Mexico has done in labor matters, such as the training of workers that, like never before, is being carried out in the country, said Cervantes.
Haces stressed that Catem participated in the labor reform promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and now we are going with President Claudia Sheinbaum towards a new generation of labor rights on the second floor of the transformation
