The Broad National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), which measures the preview of official inflation, was 0.62% in November this year, therefore above 0.54% in the previous month and 0.33% November last year. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the IPCA-15 accumulates rates of 4.35% in the year and 4.77% in 12 months.
Eight of the nine expense groups analyzed by IBGE had inflation in the November preview, with emphasis on food and beverages, whose price increase reached 1.34% in the period.
Among the food products with the biggest price increases in the November preview, soybean oil (8.38%), tomatoes (8.15%) and meat (7.54%) stand out.
Another group of expenses with important inflation was transport (0.82%). In the previous month, this expense class had experienced deflation (price drop) of 0.33%. The price increase in the November preview was driven by items such as air tickets (22.56%), urban buses (1.34%), vehicle gas (1.06%) and gasoline (0.07%).
Other groups with price increases were personal expenses (0.83%), housing (0.22%), clothing (0.36%), health and personal care (0.18%) and communication (0.11%) . Education had deflation of 0.01%.
November’s IPCA-15 was calculated based on prices collected between October 12th and November 12th, compared to the period from September 14th to October 11th.
