SANTIAGO. The president of the Duartiano Institute stated in this city that the Dominican State has not had enough responsibility to design a serious, consistent and permanent policy to control the peaceful invasion of Haitian citizens into Dominican territory.
Wilson Gómez Ramírez stated that the official political and immigration line has been one of indifference, of decline of responsibility for many years, of inflection towards international organizations and agents, in addition to the fact that there are people who believe it is normal that immigration policy depends on the new North American president, which is not normal.
“We understand that immigration policy has to be protected by article 3 of the Constitution, which very clearly establishes Dominican sovereignty, which establishes the self-determination of us as a people and independence as such,” Gómez Ramírez stressed when giving a conference titled Migration and media outlets that organized here the branch of the Dominican College of Journalists (CDP) and the Journalism in Reflection foundation.
He indicated that that same constitutional article, that is, article 3, clearly establishes non-intervention in the internal affairs of the States, a principle that is inalienable.

The Duartian specified that this constitutional article determines what is the line to be followed by those who they administer the state In these circumstances, in addition to assuming the open defense of sovereignty and consecrating to the Armed Forces the obligation to defend what concerns the territory of the Republic.
Gómez Ramírez maintained that the massive presence of Haitian citizens irregularly weighs heavily and causes damage to the country, not only in relation to the displacement of the dominican workforcebut an offer that he defined as very attractive for some sectors of the country’s economy.
