“I will be the president of the country that advances, and I invite you all to that,” said President-elect Yamandú Orsi

The elected president celebrated with Carolina Cosse and thousands of Frente Amplio militants on the Montevideo promenade.

The president-elect Yamandú Orsi and his running mate Carolina Cosse yesterday Sunday at the NH Columbia Hotel to celebrate with the militants of the Frente Amplio.

The militants welcomed Yamandú Orsi shouting “president”, while the formula hugged each other on stage and applauded the audience.

The Frente Amplista told the thousands of militants that he will call “again and again for national dialogue to find the best solutions” and that he will seek “national growth” of “a country that advances.”

At the beginning of his speech, the president-elect noted that it was a night of “many thanks,” while marking an “exemplary campaign” by the Frente Amplio and saluting the militants for their work over these months.

Then he referred to “the militants who embrace other flags.” “They are also builders of this democracy. This country is an example of positive accumulation, where we of course have differences in our thinking, but there should never be room for grievance or disqualification. And that is why the country of freedom, equality, and also fraternity triumphs once again,” he said later.

In relation to the coalition, Orsi also stated that “a better country and a democratic republic with a future is built from the debate of ideas.” “There is no future if we put a wall on ideas,” he added.

“I am going to be the president who calls again and again for national dialogue to find the best solutions. Of course with our ideas, but also by listening very well to what others tell us. “I am going to be the president who builds a more integrated society, a more integrated country,” he said.

“This will also have to be a country that moves towards development, towards prosperity, and I will also be the president of national growth, of the growth of the country that advances, and I invite you all to that. I want to greet every corner of my country. Let us strongly embrace the idea that Uruguay is one despite our territorial differences,” the president-elect also expressed.

Cosse pointed out that the elected government will seek to “build a progressive course for Uruguay.” “Today the construction of a Uruguay for all begins,” he said before finishing.
