The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, downplayed the warnings made by American Erik Prince that after January 10, Nicolás Maduro’s government officials will be military targets. “That doesn’t keep us up at night,” he said.
The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, stressed that opposition leader María Corina Machado is politically disqualified for life “from now on.” He referred to the bill that the National Assembly is working on to prevent those who “support” sanctions “against Venezuela” from running for elected office.
Cabello made the assertion this Monday, November 25, during the party’s weekly press conference. «The terrorist—referring to María Corina Machado—is now disqualified. A person with psychiatric problems like her cannot lead the country,” he said.
The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace also recalled that the instrument, once it is approved and comes into force, contemplates the holding of trials in absentia. In his opinion, this will make people understand that impunity for life is over in Venezuela.
“What they do: promoting sanctions and laws against Venezuela must have a cost and they must feel that this cost is high,” he added to the media.
When asked about the warnings made by the American Erik Prince that after January 10 government officials will be military targets, Cabello highlighted that this is a reality that the ruling party has faced since 1998 when socialism came to power with Hugo Chavez in front.
«That does not stop us from sleeping and even less will Erick Prince, let them dream and continue dreaming. We will continue working. On Saturday we will have a national deployment day. This is a revolution that has taken shape. It’s not just one person, they’re facing a revolution. “What you experienced in Vietnam will be child’s play compared to what you will experience in Venezuela,” he stated.
Cabello referred to the alleged discovery of plans to bring mercenaries into the country. “Whoever comes to enjoy has no problems, but those who come to generate terrorist acts or violence will face the consequences,” he added.
The first vice president of the PSUV rejected the opinion of the United States that Venezuela harasses the opposition refugees in the Argentine embassy in Caracas and that the Maduro government should give them safe passage to leave the country.
«They are immoral, we are not doing what they did. The Argentine embassy is there so they pay for the services,” he added.
At the press conference he referred to the “lipstick” march called by María Corina Machado for next December 1. “With regard to what the terrorist lady says: have no doubts, she has said so many things (…) Since 2002 she has said that ‘it’s not far away’, ‘it’s ready’, ‘weaker every day,’ he said.
