The law that regulates that sector has been unchanged since 1946, so it seeks to update it, said the legislator.
Rodríguez met this Monday with the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Chamber of Deputies, which brings together the leaders of the banks, and gave them in writing the response to the questions to parliamentarians that the banks sent to the Executive.
This format occurred because, Monreal said, the officials did not appear before the plenary session on the occasion of the sixth government report.
However, at the meeting, coordinators of opposition groups, such as the coordinator of the deputies of National Action (PAN), Noemí Luna Ayala, asked him to appear before the Chamber of Deputies.
In the almost three-hour meeting, the topics of dialogue with the opposition, migration, the right to protection of personal data, among others, were discussed.
On this last issue, according to Monreal, the federal official said that the government will be responsible for the protection of personal data now without the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (Inai), whose extinction was approved in the Chamber of Deputies last week.
“She mentioned that they are also obliged, due to the extinction of the INAI, to securely and excessively safeguard personal data. That there will be no carelessness or forgetfulness on the part of the government in the protection of personal data,” said Monreal.
In his report, the legislator said that, regarding migration, the official guaranteed that he will follow the same policy of the last six-year term: “orderly, legal, regular and safe migration.”
Given the increase in migrant caravans that transit through Mexican territory towards the United States, “the government’s strategy will not change and will be given a focus on rights and respect for the dignity of people. Never criminalize human mobility, without neglecting the threats that may arise from foreign nations due to the new governments that are being elected,” he said.
