Bolivia will visit the Dominican Republic for the Davis Cup World Group II Play-Offs, according to the draw that was held, and between the end of January and the beginning of February 2025 the duel will take place, which will be the tenth in history between both.

The national team will face the Central American team after losing to Uruguay in Santa Cruz 3-1 in mid-September in World Group II.

That negative result meant that he went on to play in the Play-Offs next year.

As hosts, the Dominican Republic will choose the dates on which the matches will be played: January 31 and February 1 or February 1 and 2.

The team that wins the duel will advance to World Group II, an event that will be played in September 2025, while the loser will go on to play, same in September, Group III of the American Zone.

Mauricio Solís, captain (coach) of the national team, gave his opinion on the rival they will face.

“We have to go on a visit, you could say that it is a rival that we would have to beat, we still had to win against Uruguay, but the boys did not do well, so it is going to be very hard, even worse on the visit,” said Solís. .

He added that “it will be played on a hard court, a surface that is not the most suitable for us.”

Tennis player Murkel Dellien also gave his opinion on the next opponent: “I saw the draw, we are always aware of it. I think it will be a series in which they will put the surface on a fast court. Normally they handle themselves on that surface. The date of the Davis Cup is a little different and intersects somewhat with our (tournament) calendar, but we will see how we handle it to play the Davis Cup and give everything for Bolivia.”

The series will have a total of five matches (four singles and one double) and whoever wins three of those matches will be victorious.

Both teams met nine times and the Central Americans have the advantage with six wins over three for La Verde.

The first time they played was in 1989 in Santo Domingo, where the hosts won 3-2.

Bolivia’s first victory was in the rematch, in 1994, and they won 2-1, while their other two victories came in 1997 (2-1) and 2021 (3-1).

The remaining five wins for the Dominican Republic were also in 1997 (2-1), 1998 (2-0), 2000 (2-1), 2008 (5-0) and 2012 (4-1).
