Netflix will premiere the long-awaited adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude on December 11, one of the most outstanding works of universal literature, written by the Colombian Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez.
The production is directed by Laura Mora and Alex García López and it promises to be one of the most ambitious audiovisual projects of recent times in the history of Latin America. From the founding of Macondo and the arrival of Melquíades, to the war, family conflicts and the prophecies of loneliness of José Arcadio Buendía under the chestnut tree, the series promises to capture the magical and tragic essence of the book.
The first part consists of eight episodes, filmed entirely in Colombia, with a mostly national cast. Among the main actors are Marco Antonio González and Diego Vásquez as José Arcadio Buendía in their young and adult stages, respectively, and Susana Morales and Marleyda Soto as Úrsula Iguarán.
Also notable are Moreno Borja as Melquíades, Claudio Cataño as Aureliano Buendía and Viña Machado as Pilar Ternera, among others.
The production had the support of the family of Nobel Prize winner García Márquez. Besides, The series was filmed in various locations in the country, such as La Guajira, Magdalena, Cesar, Cundinamarca and Tolima. to recreate the magical landscapes of Macondo.

The production benefited from the CINA incentive (Audiovisual Investment Certificate), a stimulus granted by the Colombian government that covers 35% of expenses on audiovisual services in the country.
