Brazilian Marta, striker and captain of Orlando Pride (United States), led the club to win an unprecedented title in the women’s football league, the NSWL (National Women’s Soccer League). This Sunday (24), the team of Marta and compatriots Angelina and Adriana became champions with a 1-0 victory in the final over Washington Spirt. The title goal was scored by Barbra Banda, born in Zambia.

Excited, the 38-year-old striker, six times voted the best in the world by the FIFA Awards, coshared on social media the joy of winning the title in the presence of her mother, who from the stands watched her daughter on the field for the first time in a match in the United States.
“It means a lot,” said Marta, referring to her mother. And he added: “playing with these athletes is something really special, which I have never had at any other club”, said the number 10, who has been with Orlando Pride since 2017.
This season, Marta was elected to the women’s championship team and is also among the five nominees for the best player in the NWSL 2024.
The first division of the women’s football championship in the States brought together 15 clubs in the first phase. Orlando Pride recorded 18 wins, six draws and just two defeats. In the knockout stage, Marta’s team defeated the Chicago Red Stars 4-1 in the quarterfinals, and then advanced to the final by defeating Kansas City 3-2 in the semifinals.
