Yamandú Orsi: “Democracy has to be a party”

The leader highlighted the importance of maintaining a climate of respect during the electoral process and valued the civic maturity of Uruguayans.

Asked about complaints in the electoral framework, Orsi said: “The court always knows how to resolve these things. In addition, it helps people find out so they can be a little more alert. […] I think it’s not going to have much effect.”

Regarding the message for Uruguayans on this day, he stated: “Democracy has to be a party. It is and it has to be. […] They saw that it was a campaign, despite how intense, there were no incidents or anything to regret. […] We have become accustomed to the fact that there is only one way to solve this, which is by going to vote with pride.”

Reflection on the future

When asked about his plans, both in case of victory and defeat, Orsi expressed that his commitment to militancy and its ideals is unwavering: “I have always been a militant, I am going to be a militant and I have a profession. Therefore […] It’s not that there is plan B, C, one has to be clear that life goes on. […] Whatever happens, you have to recharge your batteries and continue because this is a long road where you never reach the end.”

About the return of compatriots

The candidate also highlighted the arrival of Uruguayans from Argentina to vote, reflecting on the challenges faced by citizens abroad: “How good it would be if at some point the Uruguayan who can vote in an election does not depend so much on distance and money. that I can get to be able to come.”
