The emotion of Racing Club’s consecration as champion of the Copa Sudamericana after beating Cruzeiro 3-1 in Asunción led thousands of fans to star in celebrations in Avellaneda and the Buenos Aires Obelisk.
The party will continue this Sunday with the return of the delegation from the Paraguayan capital.
It all started very early at the Presidente Perón Stadium in Avellaneda, where Racing directors organized a music and fireworks festival for more than 30,000 people who could not travel to Asunción.
With three screens in the center of the playing field, Racing fans followed the match played at the Nueva Olla stadium.
Once the Uruguayan Esteban Ostojich scored the end of the match, a true explosion of euphoria was generated for Racing’s fourth international consecration in 121 years of history.
The fans chose three gathering places to enjoy the conquest: the stadium, known as ‘Magical Cylinder of Avellaneda’, the headquarters located ten blocks from the stadium in the center of the town of Avellaneda, and the Buenos Aires Obelisk.
At this last point, the epicenter of the great celebrations of the Argentines, more than 15,000 fans arrived wearing the blue and white colors of Racing, according to calculations by the authorities.
The delegation must return at 2:00 p.m. after an hour and 50 minute flight from Asunción.
Then it will move to the Presidente Perón Stadium.
Racing Club has once again celebrated an international title after 36 years.
This is the 42nd title in the history of the club founded on March 25, 1903.
