The rehabilitation of the main roads of the city is one of the priorities of the administration of the mayor of Trujillo, Mario Reyna Rodríguezwho announced various works to improve road infrastructure. However, not all initiatives appear to be meeting the expected quality standards, as demonstrated by the recent report by the Comptroller on the project to repair pavement, curbs and traffic signs on Mansiche Avenue, between the bypass section and La República Street.

The Comptroller General of the Republic, through the Institutional Control Body of the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo (MPT), issued control report No. 073-2024, which warns of serious deficiencies in the execution of the work. Although those in charge of supervision concluded the intervention, the inspection visit carried out by the Control Commission revealed a series of problems in the quality of the work, which puts the durability of the project at risk.
According to the report, in the work carried out by the Primavera Consortium, significant failures were found such as cracks, bulges, depressions and detachments on the surface, which could accelerate the deterioration of the road. Peeling and visible tracks of vehicles, people and animals were also recorded, demonstrating the poor quality of the work carried out.

Alerted
Mayor Mario Reyna was officially notified by the Comptroller’s Office on November 18, granting him a period of five business days to adopt the necessary corrective actions and communicate the measures he will take in this regard.
Another worrying finding was the presence of residual remains of the work within the layer of “slurry seal”, a material used in the pavement sealing process.
