“Every time a bomb falls and kills a journalist, every time a bomb falls and destroys a university to train journalists, the foundations of international law and the United Nations system are shaken,” Pérez said in his speech.

He added that “UNESCO, as an expression of the United Nations system, (2:12) must ensure that the relationship between member states is on terms of equality. (2:16) It is not possible to accept that there are criteria set forth by some member states (2:20) that are above others.”

He said that it must draw the world’s attention that a genocide is being committed in Gaza and “its extension to Lebanon”, while trying to silence this fact without allowing voices other than the hegemonic ones, “to protect and fight against impunity.” ”.

Pérez Hernández ended his speech by presenting Venezuela’s solidarity against the genocide and the continued killing of the civilian population, including hundreds of journalists.

“Wherever the people of Venezuela are, where the people of Simón Bolívar are, our voice will be there to demand that justice be done with you and with all the peoples of the world. Brothers from Palestine and Lebanon tell us that wherever the People of Venezuela are, the People of Simón Bolívar will be our voice to demand that justice be done,” he concluded.
