The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced through his social networks that the former president of Uruguay, José “Pepe” Mujicayou will receive the Boyacá Crossthe highest distinction granted by the Colombian State.
In his message, Petro highlighted the importance of this decoration as a recognition of Mujica’s legacy:
“The former president of Uruguay, Pepe Mujica, will be decorated with the Boyacá Cross, Colombia’s highest distinction, andn recognition of their struggle, their legacy and their contribution to Latin American integration. Long live Pepe, long live Latin America, long live Colombia and Uruguay!”, trilled the Colombian president on his X account.

Who is Pepe Mujica?
José Mujica, known affectionately as “Pepe”, He was president of Uruguay between 2010 and 2015. His life has been a constant defense of the values of social justice, equality and democracy.
