Chilean gastronomy has once again shone on the international stage, this time thanks to the prestigious recognition granted to Rodolfo Guzman by The Best Chef Awards 2024. This award highlights the most influential chefs in the world, positioning Guzmán as one of the best with the highest distinction of three knives in the The Best category.
The Best Chef Awardscreated in 2017, annually celebrates global culinary excellence. In its eighth edition, which took place this year, 550 chefs from 61 countries were included. Unlike previous years in which a “top 100” was compiled, this year awards were given in categories symbolized by knives, with three knives being the highest level, reserved for chefs who demonstrate outstanding excellence.
Rodolfo Guzmanchef of the famous Boragó restaurant, located in Vitacura, Santiago, was the only Chilean to receive this honor. This recognition is not an isolated event in his career: in 2023, Guzmán had already been included among the 10 best chefs worldwide, consolidating his reputation as one of the most prominent exponents of Latin American gastronomy. Now, his entry into the exclusive group of 97 chefs in The Best category further reinforces his legacy.
He Boragó restaurantinternationally recognized, is characterized by its focus on local ingredients and innovative techniques that rescue Chile’s biodiversity. Guzmán has been a pioneer in integrating the country’s cultural and natural wealth into unique gastronomic experiences, which has led him to be in the sights of critics and diners around the world.
In addition to Guzmanthree other Chilean chefs were also recognized by The Best Chef Awards. Nicolás Tapia, from the Yum Cha restaurant; Pedro Chavarría, from Demo; and Ignacio Ovalle, from La Calma By Fredes, obtained a knife, entering the Excellent category. This achievement reaffirms the growing recognition of Chilean cuisine in the international arena.
