The Popular Action bench presented a bill that proposes that the privatization of the Peruvian Airports and Commercial Aviation Corporation (Corpac) be declared of public necessity and national interest.
Look: Private investment grew 4% in the third quarter
“The total privatization of Corpac is declared of public necessity and national interest to have an efficient service that provides security to airport users and operators nationwide,” the document reads.
Within the explanatory memorandum it is established that it is essential that the public passenger transport service be provided in the best possible conditions, guaranteeing efficiency and effectiveness.
“This will optimize the connectivity of people, facilitating their movement in an agile, fast and safe manner to various cities both within the country and abroad. In particular, air transport is key to strengthening commercial, academic, professional, health and tourism with other countries,” he says.
In this sense, it points out that in various regions it has been evident that many airports managed by Corpac face deficiencies, which are manifested in obsolete or inadequate infrastructure and equipment.
Added to this, as reported, is that the conflicts of Corpac workers generate strikes and stoppages that seriously affect the continuity of the service and harm users, as well as the image of the country.
“The implementation of this standard will generate positive effects at various levels: The participation of the private sector will allow the injection of capital that modernizes the infrastructure and services related to air navigation, reducing the financial burden of the State. The improvement in the quality of The services will generate direct benefits for airlines, users and logistics operators, contributing to the strengthening of commerce and tourism,” the initiative indicates.
