As part of the celebration of Black Awareness Month, the NGO Ação Educativa, in partnership with organizations such as Abong, Instituto Polis and Núcleo Antirracista Virginia Bicudo da Fesp, is holding this Saturday (23), a cultural event with the theme “We are the beginning, the middle and the beginning”. The meeting, which started at 10 am and runs until 5:30 pm, seeks to value the black presence and discuss issues such as environmental racism and territoriality.
Inspired by the reflections of Master Antônio Bispo dos Santos, the party will feature performances by artists such as DJ Viny Rodrigues, Grupo Baque CT, Terreirão do Samba SP, Rappin Hood, Coletivo AMEM, Versus and Os Diplomatas, among others, on Rua General Jardim, in stretch between the streets Doutor Vila Nova and Doutor Cesário Mota Júnior.
“By occupying the territory of Vila Buarque, Ação Educativa seeks to dispute a narrative about the neighborhood, creating a space for exchange and visibility for black communities, recognizing the center as a historical meeting point for different cultural and affective expressions of black people” , said the coordinator of Special Projects and one of the program’s curators, Juliane Cintra.
According to the deputy executive coordinator of Ação Educativa, Edneia Gonçalves, by carrying out cultural programming on the streets, Ação Educativa, which celebrates 30 years of existence, invites the community to recognize the appreciation of the black presence and the territory as a space of resistance and identity.
“The program involves a diversity of learning involved in permanent black resistance to oppression, which is why art, culture, territories and education come together to indicate the elements of a more egalitarian future”, commented Edneia.
The program includes Maracatu Parade; Coco de Roda and Ciranda; DJs, Samba Circle, among other attractions.
