With the arrival of December, many people in Chile begin to prepare their finances to face end-of-year expenses. Among the tools available, the bonuses granted by the Government, benefits that help alleviate the costs of celebrations and cover needs during this season.
One of the most anticipated is the Christmas bonusa benefit delivered to support workers and pensioners during this time. Although the amounts for 2024 have not yet been confirmed, last year they reached $63,062 for those who had salaries less than $943,703, and $33,358 for those who received incomes less than $3,125,052. This bonus is automatically granted to public sector workers and pensioners who meet the established criteria.
Another important benefit, although it is not paid directly in December, is the Vacation Bonuswhich will be available in January. This bonus seeks to mitigate additional expenses associated with summer. The previous year, the amounts were $104,800 for those who had net compensation less than or equal to $984,282, and $52,400 for those who earned up to $3,259,429. This year’s figures will depend on the negotiations between the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT) and the Government.
He Tax Charge Bonusalso known as the Conflict Term Bonus, is delivered in January or February as a result of agreements between the public sector and the Government. In 2023, it reached $200,000 for workers with net income of up to $984,282, and $100,000 for those who received up to $3,259,429 in gross remuneration.
Although the final amounts of these benefits for 2024 will be defined in the coming weeks, projections indicate that they will be higher than last year. Negotiations between the CUT and the Government usually begin in December, and after reaching an agreement, the final values will be announced.
