The Health Department of the Federal District (SES-DF) called on the population this Saturday (23) to participate in Dengue Combat Day and carry out actions to combat the mosquito that transmits the disease, the Aedes aegypti.
The objective is to eliminate standing water, where the insect can lay eggs. Among the breeding sites are pots, plant pots, tires, PET bottles, household gutters and even small containers, such as bottle caps.
Therefore, the ministry asks the community to keep water tanks, barrels and barrels well covered, put sand in the dishes of plant pots, tie garbage bags tightly and not accumulate rubble and scrap as a way of preventing the reproduction of Aedes aegypti.
In publication on social networkthe Undersecretary of Health Surveillance at SES-DF, Fabiano dos Anjos, reinforces the importance of everyone’s participation in the fight against the vector. “Participate in this national mobilization campaign by doing your part. Clean your yard and eliminate any mosquito breeding sites in your environment. Prevention is a joint effort.”
Vaccine
The undersecretary also recalls that the dengue vaccine is available for the immunization of children and adolescents aged 10 to 14, in Basic Health Units (UBS), previously known as health centers or health posts.
The list of open vaccination sites and opening hours this Saturday, in the Federal District, is available on website of the Health Department of the Federal District.
In 2024, the Ministry of Health has the clarification campaign “Do you have 10 minutes? The time to prevent is now”, which encourages the population to dedicate a little time each week to eliminating possible mosquito breeding sites and to welcome community health agents to prevent mosquito outbreaks.
The main symptoms of dengue are high fever, muscle and joint pain, red spots on the skin, headache or pain behind the eyes.
