The Ministry for the Penitentiary Service, through the Immediate Response Group of Custodians, carried out an extraordinary search in two prisons, with the support of the Bolivarian National Guard, according to reports.
At the José Antonio Anzoátegui Agroproductive Penitentiary Center, located in Puente Ayala, Barcelona sector, officials entered module 1, where they seized a marijuana package, 13 telephone equipment, three memory chips, 15 phone chargers, four cables, eight knife-type weapons, two headphones, a telephone battery and a tinderbox, according to minutes from Detachment 521 of the GNB.
The other extraordinary search was carried out in the surroundings of the Western Penitentiary Center located in Santa Ana del Táchira, where two panels of marijuana were seized, according to a report from Detachment 211 of the GNB.
The aforementioned drug had been thrown from outside, between sentry boxes 4 and 5, inside the aforementioned prison complex, with the intention of reaching the confinement areas of those deprived of liberty.
In another event, the Minister for the Penitentiary Service, Julio García Zerpa, participated yesterday in an activity at the National Institute of Women’s Guidance, where he carried out the first delivery of school uniforms made by the Miranda Project to the children of prisoners. “It is an example of joint work within the framework of this penitentiary approach, carried out together with the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry for Women.
