This Friday, the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico carried out the so-called “Operation Swarm” in the State of Mexico, managing to complete seven arrest warrants against municipal presidents, public security directors and other officials identified for their alleged links with criminal groups.
The operation, indicated the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico, the result of investigative and intelligence work, allowed the gathering of various evidence that was presented before a judge. The arrest warrants issued are related to serious crimes such as extortion, express kidnapping and homicide, in which officials from municipalities such as Amanalco, Santo Tomás, Tonatico, Chicoloapan, Ixtapaluca, Tejupilco, Naucalpan, Coacalco, Jilotzingo and Texcaltitlán would be involved.

Suicide in detention
It was also reported that during the proceedings for the Enjambre operation, Isidro “N”, the Director of Citizen Security of the municipality of Texcaltitlán, took his own life by shooting himself while officers were reading the court order to him. “He took up his firearm with which he deprived himself of his life,” the Edomex Prosecutor’s Office reported on its social networks.
Objective: dismantle criminal support networks
The deployment in several strategic points of the State of Mexico, highlighted the local Prosecutor’s Office, sought to dismantle the support networks that these public servants provided to criminal organizations that operate in the entity. The operation is considered a significant advance in the fight against corruption and the infiltration of organized crime in government institutions.
The operation was carried out by elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), National Guard (GN), National Intelligence Center (CNI), Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico (SSEM) and Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM).
