The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, described the seizure of a group of hooded men at the Research Headquarters of the University of Antioquia as a criminal act.
Gutiérrez warned that What was done by this group of people is not a social protest, but an act that goes against legality.
“It cannot be that vandals hiding behind hoods continue to generate terror, hiding behind a misinterpreted university autonomy,” he said.
The Paisa president rejected the situation, in which several people were compromised, including patients and to a good part of the medical staff who were carrying some kidneys that would be used for transplants.

“The hood does not hide them from the law and university autonomy does not give them a license to commit crimes. Let’s react as a society. “Enough is enough,” said the president.
In turn, the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, also reacted against what happened during the day.
He said that if the university directives had warned earlier, he himself would have given the order to respond with the presence of public forces.
“No protest canviolate the rights of others, nor put anyone’s life at risk,” added the president.

Let us remember that, this Friday morning, it was learned that a group of hooded men took over the Research Headquarters of the University of Antioquia and closed them with chains, preventing care for patients who require kidney transplants and other treatments.
It all has to do with the request and pressure that many of the students of the University of Antioquia and other public institutions of higher education are generating, so that there is responsible financing by the state authorities, in this case the Government of Antioquia , the National Government, and also the Mayor’s Office of Medellín.
