Every year, Bolivia witnesses with horror the devastation of their forests caused by forest fires that devastate millions of hectares and destroy human lives, animals and entire ecosystems. However, the 2024 has set an alarming record: around 10 million hectares were reduced to ashes!

Faced with this environmental tragedy, the EL DEBER Group, in alliance with Connectas, Journalistic Platform for the Americas, has decided thoroughly investigate the legal and judicial structures that allow the fire to advance with impunity. The investigation titled “Unpunished Fire” not only exposes those responsible for these crimes, but also questions the role of Justice in punishing the guilty and protecting public health.

The first results of this exhaustive investigation will be published next week through the EL DEBER and Connectas platforms.

Besides, This Thursday, November 28, there will be an exclusive screening of an audiovisual material that reveals part of the findings. The event will take place at the Bolivian American Center, at 7:00 p.m., in collaboration with both institutions.

Join us on this revealing day and discover how fire and impunity are marking the future of our forests. #UnpunishedFire
