The Ministers of Finance and Public Credit, Ricardo Bonilla, and of Education, Daniel Rojas, came out to deny rumors about an alleged cut in resources to Icetex, after a series of complaints about the delay in transfers to the entity, which has aroused suspicion about the validity for next year.

The version of the assumption The cut in resources occurred after they reported delays in payments to Icetex.
On the subject, Minister Daniel Rojas stated that the resources for 2024 are assured, but that the delay in the transfers is due to a “reprogramming” in the allocation of cash by the Ministry of Finance.

Given the controversy, the former Minister of Education and former presidential candidate, Alejandro Gaviria, said that the management of the fund is already affecting the students.
From his X account, Gaviria also wrote that “the Ministry of Education intends to take one billion pesos from Icetex in 2025, which would lead to a breach of constitutional commitments: promised forgiveness that will not be given, interest rates much higher than those agreed upon, etc.”.
