President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva commented, this Thursday (21), on plans for his assassination, in 2022, in an attempt to coup d’état prepared by military personnel. “I have to be much more grateful now because I’m alive. The attempt to poison me, me and the [vice-presidente, Geraldo] Alckmin, it didn’t work, we’re here”, he said.
Lula spoke, at Palácio do Planalto, during a ceremony to present the review of highway concession contracts and attract private investments in transport infrastructure. “It is this country, comrades, without persecution, without the stimulus of hatred, without the stimulus of disagreement that we need to build”, he said.
“And I don’t want to poison anyone, I don’t even want to persecute anyone. The only thing I want is, when my term ends, for us to demoralize with numbers those who governed before us. I want to measure with numbers who did more schooling, who took care of the poorest, who built more roads, more bridges, who paid more minimum wage in this country, that’s what I want to measure because that’s what counts in the results of governance”, added the president.

Last Tuesday (19), the Federal Police (PF) launched an operation to dismantle criminal organization responsible for planning a coup d’état to prevent President Lula from taking office after the 2022 election. The plan, which included the assassination of Lula and vice-president Alckmin, was printed at Palácio do Planaltoin November of that year.
The coup document provided for poisoning, the use of explosives and heavy weapons to “neutralize” Lula, Alckmin and Minister Alexandre Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). One of those arrested in Operation Contragolpe, by the PF, stated that the former president Jair Bolsonaro gave his approval for a coup plot until December 31, 2022.
The investigation also pointed out that a “crisis office” would be installed after murders. The PF identified that a group of military personnel, formed after the 2022 presidential elections, used a high level of technical-military knowledge to plan, coordinate and execute illicit actions.
