The unemployment withdrawals from Afores They shot up again during October and amounted to 3,390.1 million pesos, a new monthly historical maximum and an increase of 59.50% compared to September, according to data from the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar).
This increase raises doubts regarding the effectiveness of the validation mechanism that Consar implemented at the end of July to control the bad practices that existed in this process.
The authorities detected a scheme through which managers and Afore promotersas well as offices, offered workers to withdraw thousands of pesos from their retirement savings account in exchange for juicy commissions of up to 30% of the amount withdrawn.
This fraudulent scheme It consisted of some promoters or offices registering unemployed workers with Social Security for one or more days, but with a salary higher than what they actually had when they were working.
These practices caused the amounts of unemployment withdrawals to reach historic highs in 2024. From January to July of this year, withdrawals amounted to 17,923 million pesos, a figure never before seen for a similar period.
In July, for the first time in the history of the Retirement Savings System (SAR) the amount of unemployment withdrawals exceeded 3,000 million pesos, which happened again in October.
