President Nicolás Maduro celebrated the reform of the law on justice of the peace. He asserted that with the justices of the peace an important step is taken for the democratization of justice. “It is the best way to exercise popular sovereignty, guarantee peace and say to imperialism: don’t mess with Venezuela,” he added.
The government of Nicolás Maduro installed the National Commission for the elections of justices of the peace, scheduled for next December 15. The event was led by President Nicolás Maduro, the president of the National Assembly (AN) 2020, Jorge Rodríguez, the rector president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, among other officials.
At the event, held in Caracas, Nicolás Maduro affirmed that his administration has the task of building a new State on new bases. He highlighted that with the approval of the reform to the laws of popular power, and in the specific case of the communes, the way of organizing justice of the peace has been established.
“Today in the territories we are paying a historical debt of 25 years,” he said during his right to speak. He asserted that with the justices of the peace an “important step” is taken for the democratization of justice.
“It is the best way to exercise popular sovereignty, guarantee peace and say to imperialism: don’t mess with Venezuela,” he added. According to Maduro, Venezuela enjoys a justice system free of “oligarchies” and independent of the “gringos.”
On the other hand, he accused sectors of the opposition of promoting a return “to the colonial era” and that the country ends up as “lackeys before the billionaires and the elites.”
He warned those who in his opinion want to impose a “Carmonazo” not to underestimate “the people and the revolution.” In this sense, he stressed that regardless of the actions they carry out in the country “they are going to regret it.”
He pointed out that “the best path” for the protection of the people, at this moment, is to advance in the election of the justices of the peace of the five thousand communal circuits. In this sense, he asked parliament, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Prosecutor’s Office and other organizations to “make the necessary changes” to consolidate the measures so that the country “continues” in the economic recovery.
«Every step we take in the right direction means that we are consolidating the path of peace in Venezuela. I know that on December 15, 25 years after the approval of the Constitution, we are going to consolidate that path. “No one will prevent the people from voting, from having peace in Venezuela, from having beautiful, happy Christmases and a happy year 2025. We are prepared for everyone,” he noted.
The president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, said on the subject that starting today the electoral commissions will be installed in the communes, which will be in charge of publishing the schedule and the application period. It is expected that on December 16, one day after the elections, 30,000 new justices of the peace will have been elected in the country.
