The president of the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), Fabio Arias, announced that this Thursday, November 21, a peaceful demonstration will be held in different cities of the country to mark the five years of the ‘national strike’ in the country.
The union leader noted that This protest will be led by the different union organizations in different regions at the national level.
“This November 21, a day of national mobilization for social reforms, peace and unity will be held, within the framework of the 5th anniversary of the social outbreak, convened by the National Unitary Command (CUT, CGT and the Confederations of Pensioners CDP and CPC), Fecode, the National Coordinator for Change, the Minga del Suroccidente, the National Confederation of Communal Action, the Historical Pact, Unitarians and grassroots Liberals,” he indicated.

Arias stated that In Bogotá the demonstration will start from the National Park at nine in the morning to finish in the Plaza de Bolívar.
“Active participation of the union, social and popular movement is expected in the national mobilization that, in addition to expressing support for social reformswill commemorate November 21, 2019”said.

He noted that within the framework of the mobilization they will remember various union, social, student, peasant, indigenous, Afro-descendant organizations, among others, who took to the streets to express their discontent with the policies of the national government.
“The day of commemoration seeks to defend the institutions against the attempted coup d’état promoted by economic sectors against whom Colombian society rose up in the ‘social outbreak’,” he pointed out.
