The Congressional Justice Commission approved the bill that proposes civil union between same-sex couples. After that, the legislative initiative promoted by congressmen Alejandro Cavero and Martha Moyano will go to the Plenary Session of Parliament for the respective debate.

The aforementioned bill involving civil rights, common property and inheritance rights, particularly for same-sex couples or those who do not wish to formally marry, fIt was approved in the Justice Commission with 12 votes in favor.
During the session of the aforementioned congressional working group, An intermission room was proposed to give the benches time to define their position, which was rejected and the vote was passed.
The initiative includes aspects of how the couples’ assets would be handled, registration of homes and distribution of assets in the event of the death of one of the members of the couple.
Thus, the proposal seeks to regulate civil union in order to guarantee the rights related to property, inheritance and cohabitation, without reaching the formality of marriage.
The legislative text specifies that The union must be formalized by public deed and registered in the Registry of Natural Persons of the National Superintendency of Public Registries. (Sunarp).
The requirements to establish a civil union would be: be of legal age, not be married or have another de facto union, and have full legal capacity. Unions between direct blood relatives and alimony debtors are prohibited.
