Presidents of Brazil and China sign 37 bilateral agreements

Amid the state visit of the President of China, Xi Jinping, to Brazil, this Wednesday (20), the governments of the two countries signed 37 new bilateral agreements. The Chinese leader was received with military honors by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja da Silva, at Palácio da Alvorada, official residence. China has been Brazil’s largest trading partner since 2009. In 2023, bilateral trade reached a historic record of US$ 157 billion. The visit, according to the Brazilian government, follows the visit that Lula made to China in April 2023 and also takes place in celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
