It is false that the National Government is carrying out a fraudulent medical census to locate potential expropriable homes, despite the fact that viral messages on social networks claim this that cite a non-existent registry in the country and reproduce a hoax originating in Mexico.
Different online publications claim that the administration of President Gustavo Petro is carrying out a census with the purpose of identifying the properties of some citizens to later confiscate them.

Some of the messages are accompanied by a graphic piece that announces a “health and well-being census” and are spread along with comments like: “It’s a trap, they ask you if you own it or rent, how many rooms, how many people live there. They prepare everything for the transition from private property to social property (sic)“.
FACTS: The only census process underway in Colombia is the 2024 National Urban Economic Census, as verified by various online searches and corroborated by EFE Verify sources from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane). Furthermore, the image used as evidence is an official piece from Mexico, a country where a health data survey is being carried out, around which misinformation has also circulated.
A non-existent census
First, a review of the National Statistical Plan 2023 – 2027 and the Dane website verify that there are no traces of the existence of an alleged health census.
On the contrary, the records indicate that the only process in progress is the National Urban Economic Census 2024in which the entity surveys commercial establishments, homes with visible economic activity and street vendors in urban centers.

This coincides with the statements of a Dane spokesperson, who confirmed to EFE Verifica that this organization does not carry out “medical censuses” and the only one that is being carried out is the economic list mentioned above.
In that same line, There is also no evidence of the supposed census in other Colombian government portals or in reliable media.as proven by different advanced searches on Google.
A hoax originating in Mexico
On the other hand, the image presented as evidence was not disseminated by Colombian government entities, but rather belongs to the Ministry of Welfare of Mexicoas evidenced by the logo included at the bottom of the piece.
Additionally, a reverse image search on the internet leads to an Instagram post by the Secretary of Welfare of the Government of Mexico, Ariadna Montiel Reyesin which this official promotes ‘Salud Casa por Casa’, a program that seeks to make home medical visits to older adults.

This is a program that has nothing to do with expropriation, as claimed by disinformative narratives that also circulated in that country, where the initiative had previously been pointed out as being the beginning of a “transition from private property to social property“.
In conclusion, it is false that the Government of Colombia is carrying out a health census to expropriate citizens’ assets. There is no health registry being carried out in the nation and the image attached as evidence is a graphic piece distributed by a Mexican institution.
