Port-au-Prince, Haiti.-The situation in Haiti is getting worse and worse and it seems that the police authorities are willing to confront the gangs that take over the capital Port-au-Prince and other towns, imposing terror on the entire population.
This time the exclusive Pétion-Ville sector, which apparently experienced a certain tranquility, compared to other places, was the scene of the bloodbath that left 28 gang members dead yesterday at the hands of the Haitian police.
The authorities reported that at least 28 alleged members of armed groups were killed in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince by members of the National Police, as well as by civilians, who burned the bodies of more than twenty of them and scattered them throughout the city. , which is practically paralyzed, while the clashes continue.
The information was confirmed yesterday to the local press by the National Police, whose spokesperson, Lionel Lazarre, initially spoke of 18 alleged dead or injured gang members.
Some of them were killed by police inside the houses in which they were taking refuge and, later, located by civilians who ended up burning the bodies.
The dead, according to the information, are part of armed gangs that began to deploy in various parts of the capital between Monday night and Tuesday morning with the aim of establishing new bases in areas that are not yet under their direct control. .
It is likely that this balance will increase again in the coming hours due to the searches that citizens are carrying out in the areas where the gang members are believed to have taken refuge.
Fight for control
In messages circulating on social networks for several days, armed gangs have announced attacks in Delmas and Pétion-ville with the aim of taking control of these areas.
The inhabitants of the areas of Nazon, Lalue, Christ Roi and Bois-Verna lived a night of terror, with intense shots from automatic weapons that forced hundreds of people to spend the night awake.
The entire situation forced the paralysis of commercial activities and teaching in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, where there are also blocked areas and surveillance brigades have been set up in search of more gang members.
Clashes between agents and armed gangs are taking place in several parts of the capital, creating a situation of panic in the capital.
The main streets are empty, giving the impression that the capital is on strike. The Police operations occur a week after armed gangs of the Vivre Ensemble (Living Together) coalition, led by former police officer Jimmy Cherizier, alias ‘Barbecue’, announced days of terror in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
At the beginning of last week, two American commercial planes were shot at, which led to the closure of the Toussaint Louverture international airport, the country’s main airport, and the suspension of flights by several companies.
The UN also temporarily suspended the delivery of humanitarian aid due to the impossibility of access to the port and airport in the capital.
No US flights

Due to the intense violence that is worsening every day in Haiti, the United States Aviation Agency prohibited US airlines from flying to that country, after two planes were hit by bullets.
