The Federal Police (PF) sent the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes a copy of the testimony given this Tuesday (19) by Army lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid, former aide-de-camp to Jair Bolsonaro.
In the document, the PF cites excerpts in which the investigators consider that there was an omission or contradiction in the questions related to the coup plot to kill President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; the vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin, and Moraes.
The facts are being investigated in Operation Counterattack, launched this morning to arrest five soldiers accused of masterminding the coup plot.
Last year, Cid signed a plea bargain agreement with the PF and committed to revealing the facts he learned during Bolsonaro’s government.
Based on the information in today’s document, Alexandre de Moraes, who is the case’s rapporteur, will evaluate the maintenance of the benefits provided for in the plea bargain agreement, including the possibility of responding to the charges in freedom.
According to the operation report, one of the coup plot meetings was held in house of general Braga Nettoin Brasília, on November 12, 2022, and had the participation of Mauro Cid.
After the testimony, Cid’s defense declared that he had no knowledge of the coup attempt and did not omit any information during the hearing at the PF.
